Sundays at Nalandabodhi Halifax

Nalandabodhi Halifax offers a variety practices to work with the naturally wakeful and compassionate energy of our minds – every Sunday morning.

Open Meditation

“To-let-go-of-something-you-first-have-to-be-close-enough-to-get-ahold-of-it.”Shamatha meditation is also known as peaceful abiding meditation. Sitting relaxed, we follow our breath and watch our minds activity without judgment. This is a practice to both stabilize our wildly moving thoughts, to become familiar with them and ultimately to make friends with our mind.

Tara Practice

taraAs we become familiar with our minds we develop a trust in its natural openness and warmth. In Tara practice we connect further with our potential for compassion by visualizing the energy of the Tara principle and opening our hearts to its creative wisdom. Tara practice takes place the first Sunday of each month.

Lhabab Duchen

Buddha-in-Tushita-AA1Nalandabodhi celebrates four major holidays that epitomize the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. At Lhabab Duchen, to repay the kindness of his mother, Lord Buddha left his followers to ascend to Tushita Heaven in order to teach his mother and others so that they too could attain enlightenment. Please join us for a short liturgy and meditation followed by a potluck brunch.
