Introduction to Buddhism
Date/Time
11/26/2019
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Tuesdays at 7:00pm
A series of 10 classes offered by Nalandabodhi introducing pivotal points of Buddhist thought including
- The life of the Buddha
- Four Noble Truths
- Working with emotions
- Karma, interdependence, and selflessness
- Four foundations of mindfulness
Each class will explore a new topic and leave lots of time for exploration, meditation instruction and discussion. We are aiming for open-ended, lively forums where we can delve into our curiosity and understanding.
Classes are co-facilitated by Drime Shiwa and Charby Slemin, both students of the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. Shiwa started her Buddhist path in the Netherlands. In 2008 she came to Gampo Abbey in Cape Breton to explore monastic life. She has studied and practised the Buddhist path extensively and is presently living at Karma Changchub Ling, a small residential meditation center in Fall River. Charby has studied Buddhism with Nalandabodhi and Nitartha Institute. She came to Buddhism wondering how she could incorporate personal and social change into her life in a deeper, truer way.
Everyone is welcome! Classes are free. Donations gratefully accepted to help with costs.
