I can’t speak for you, but as a Buddhist, I struggle with feeling stuck in samsara, and long for liberation from the delusions and emotions that seem to bind me.
The Mahamudra teachings stand this attitude on its head. Instead of seeing emotions and delusions as a problem, the Mahamudra method is to see them as the path to liberation. As is said, “Just that which binds, is that which will set you free.”
The practice of Mahamudra is the way to recognize that confusion is wisdom. In mind itself, there is nothing to be taken away, and nothing to be added. But there is something to be realized. Mahamudra is the method for realizing that.
In this weekend program we will study the Mahamudra view, contemplate pith instructions from short texts like Milarepa’s “Song of Mahamudra,” and of course meditate. It should be fun! Open to everyone.
Andy Karr is a Buddhist teacher within the traditions of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, and the author of Contemplating Reality: A Practitioner’s Guide to the View in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism. He is known for teaching the profound view and meditation in a clear and accessible way
